* (contaminated) chronic wounds

* leg ulcers and pressure sores
* burns

Key Benefits
Offers a more gentle approach than pure honey
Maintains moist wound healing
Sterilised using a patented ozonation process which protects the healing properties
Utilises the antibacterial strengths of honey

Key Properties
When the gel is in contact with the wound, fluid is extracted from the surrounding tissues through osmosis creating a moist healing environment. Moist wound healing is known to optimise the wound healing process because this is an ideal physiological environment for the cells(a). This environment also:

Facilitates autolysis
Promotes better epithelial cell migration
Is an excellent debriding agent
Reduces malodour
Acts bacteriostatic (stop the growth of bacteria in the wound)
Will dilute gradually and can be removed easily with a wound cleanser

Directions for Use
Remove lid and open tube in an aseptic way.
Squeeze the tube to extract the gel and apply it, without touching the wound.
Use a (sterile) spatula when necessary.
Place a dressing on top of the gel to cover the wound.
SanoSkin Melladerm® PLUS can remain on the wound up to 48 hours on average. Reapply the gel on the wound as soon as the gel has disappeared.
Store at room temperature, maximum 25ºC / 77ºF

Sanoskin® Melladerm® Plus is a primary wound dressing that can be combined with most commonly used secondary dressings, such as Sanoskin® foam or Sanoskin® NET plus many other wound dressings and will fit easily into any wound protocol.

Contraindications
No contraindications are known to date. Do not use on individuals with a known sensitivity to the gel or its components. Do not use if package is damaged or opened. Do not use the gel in cases where the patient is very susceptible to an infection e.g. in very large burn wounds.

The gel may contain sugar crystals which will however not affect the effectiveness and/or application of the gel. Due to the use of natural products, each batch of gel may have a slightly different colour (white – yellow – brown).
