burns
Key Benefits
Offers a more gentle approach than pure honey
Maintains moist wound healing
Sterilised using a patented ozonation process which protects the healing properties
Utilises the antibacterial strengths of honey
Key Properties
When the gel is in contact with the wound, fluid is extracted from the surrounding tissues through osmosis creating a moist healing environment. Moist wound healing is known to optimise the wound healing process because this is an ideal physiological environment for the cells(a). This environment also:
Facilitates autolysis
Promotes better epithelial cell migration
Is an excellent debriding agent (autolysis)
Is painless in contrast to other honey products
Reduces malodour
Will dilute gradually and can be removed easily with a wound cleanser

Sanoskin® Melladerm® is a primary wound dressing that can be combined with most commonly used secondary dressings, such as Sanoskin® foam or Sanoskin® NET plus many other wound dressings and will fit easily into any wound protocol.
Sanoskin® Melladerm® can be applied following light therapy treatment with the Sanoskin® Photizo® LED Light Therapy Device.

Case Study
Patient – age 78 female with large skin tear, underlying venous insufficiency and multi medication
Day 1
Wound needed debriding and cleaning. Treatment commenced with Sanoskin® Melladerm® and covered with a non woven gauze dressing.
Day 40
Wound has granulated and new epidermis is clearly visible. A combination of Melladerm® and Sanoskin® NET is now used.
Day 49
Wound almost healed after 50 days. The patient did not report pain or any discomfort. It took another 10 days for the wound to completely heal.
Day 49
Sanoskin® NET is cut to the wound size and Sanoskin® Melladerm® was applied daily on top of the NET which can stay in place for 5 days. A simple non woven gauze dressing was then used to cover the wound.
Contraindications
No contraindications are known to date. Do not use on individuals with a known sensitivity to the gel or its components. Do not use if package is damaged or opened. Do not use the gel in cases where the patient is very susceptible to an infection e.g. in very large burn wounds.
